Fee explanations

Stripe charges two types of fees:

  • Transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 for credit cards, 0.8% ACH capped at $5)
    • These are taken when a parent makes a payment. Theyโ€™re applied right when the payment is processed, and the school will incur the fees.
  • Product fees
    • Invoicing (0.4% on one-time charges, like enrollment deposits)
      • You bill the parent for a one-t

ime fee. Stripe charges a 0.4% fee for using this feature.

    • Billing (0.7% on recurring charges, like tuition)
      • You set up a recurring charge to bill the parent each cycle (e.g. monthly tuition). Stripe charges a 0.7% fee for securely managing the recurring payment. Note: This is instead of Stripe's 0.4% Invoicing fee, not in addition to it.

  • Service Fee (recommended 4% on credit card payments)
    • An optional fee (1-5%) that schools can add to a bill to offset processing costs associated with credit card transactions. This helps maintain the financial sustainability of offering flexible digital payment options.
    • Recipient: School
  • ACH Discount (recommended 2โ€“3% for bank payments)
    • An optional discount schools can offer to encourage families to pay via ACH, which incurs lower processing costs. This supports more cost-effective payment processing while providing a benefit to families.
    • Recipient: School
  • Onespot Fees (0.3% on all transactions)
    • A platform fee applied to all transactions processed through Onespot. This supports ongoing product development, integrations, and payment infrastructure.
    • Recipient: Onespot
