Linking Notification Groups to Transparent Classroom classrooms
Instead of manually managing who belongs to each Notification Group, Onespot can automatically assign parents and staff based on their classroom access in Transparent Classroom. This keeps groups up to date throughout the school year — and makes it easy to restrict content like group chats, activity feeds, classroom screens, and notifications to the right families and staff.

How to Link a Notification Group to a Classroom
Step 1: Go to Notification Groups
Navigate to ⚡ Admin Superpowers → Notification Groups.
If you need help creating or managing Notification Groups, see: Editing Notification Groups
Step 2: Link a Classroom
Open an existing Notification Group or create a new one. Tap Link classroom next to the group. A Select a classroom dialog will appear — pick a Transparent Classroom classroom from the list.

Once linked:
- The Notification Group is automatically renamed to match the classroom. For example, a group originally named Children's House linked to the Toddler classroom will be renamed Toddler.
- All parents and staff with access to that classroom are automatically added to the Notification Group.
- No manual renaming or member management is needed.
Linked groups show the Transparent Classroom icon and classroom name next to them in the list. Unlinked groups show a Link classroom option instead.
Optional: Enable Daily Classroom Group Sync
For an added layer of sync coverage, you can enable Daily Classroom Group Sync.
Go to Admin Superpowers → TC Integration.
Your app must already be linked with Transparent Classroom to see these settings. If you haven't set that up yet, see: Integrating Transparent Classroom with Onespot
You'll see two toggles:
Automatic Notifications When enabled, Onespot automatically sends push notifications to all app members whenever a school-wide announcement is posted in Transparent Classroom.
Daily Classroom Group Sync When enabled, Onespot re-syncs Notification Group assignments once a day in the background — so changes are captured even for members who haven't recently opened the app.
You can also trigger a sync at any time using the Sync Now button.
Restricting Content with Notification Groups
TC classroom-linked Notification Groups are the recommended way to restrict access to specific content in your app. Just like account types can limit who sees certain screens or features, Notification Groups can do the same — with the added benefit of staying automatically in sync with Transparent Classroom.
Example screens that can be restricted by Notification Group:
- Group Chats
- Activity Feeds
- Classroom Screens
- Notifications
Notification Groups now provide a more granular way to control who sees what — any screen that supports Notification Group permissions can be restricted to only members assigned to that group.
For example, in the Activity Feed settings, an admin can set the feed so that users can only access it if they are in the Toddler Notification Group — meaning only Toddler parents and staff will see the Toddler Feed in their app.

Because assignments sync automatically from Transparent Classroom, you don't need to manually update access as students move between classrooms.
