Sharing a PDF as a Weblink in Your Onespot App

Instead of uploading PDFs directly (which can cause Android phones to download the file each time), you can convert your PDF into a Google Drive link and post that link in your Onespot app. This way, parents can open it instantly in their browser.

Method: Converting a PDF to a Google Drive Link

Step 1: Upload Your PDF to Your School’s Google Drive (Onespot Provided)

  1. Go to your school’s Google Drive using the Onespot-provided account.

    Either:

    • Click the + New button (top-left), select File upload, and choose your PDF, or
    • Simply drag and drop the PDF file from your computer into your Google Drive window.
  2. The file will appear in your Drive once uploaded.

Step 2: Make the PDF Shareable

  1. In your school’s Google Drive, right-click on your PDF file.
  2. From the menu, click Share.
  3. In the pop-up window, under General access, change it from Restricted to Anyone with the link.
  4. Make sure the role is set to Viewer (so parents can only view, not edit).
  5. Click Copy link, then click Done.

Step 3: Post the Link in the Onespot App

  1. Go to your school's Onespot App.
  2. From the Home screen, click New Screen — or click the ⚡ Lightning Bolt and select New Screen.
  3. Choose Link Web Page.
  4. Enter a Title (e.g., “School Handbook” or “Event Schedule”).
  5. Paste the Google Drive link into the Link field.
  6. (Optional) Under Permissions, choose who can see the screen (all users or specific account types).
  7. Click Save to publish the screen.

Note: Step 3 shows how to add your PDF link as a new screen, but that’s not the only way. You can also add it as a web button by creating a custom screen to keep multiple documents on one page.
