Stripe Verification Thresholds for Onespot Payments
Help Article: Stripe Verification Thresholds for Onespot Payments
If your school is expecting to process large volumes of tuition or fees through Onespot Payments, it's important to be aware of Stripe's identity verification requirements to avoid payout interruptions.
✅ Verification Thresholds: What to Know
Stripe's default global policy requires additional identity verification once your account reaches $500,000 in lifetime card volume. This may include:
- Full Social Security Number (SSN)
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport)
See Stripe's documentation here: Required Verification Info – Stripe Docs
However, some connected accounts (like schools) may see this threshold raised to $750,000 depending on:
- Business type or MCC (Merchant Category Code)
- Risk assessment by Stripe
- Platform-level trust and compliance history
This variation is normal and automatically managed by Stripe based on internal evaluations.
🧠 Actions you could take
Treat $500K as your general benchmark, but rely on the Actions Required section in your Stripe dashboard for your specific account.

To check your account status:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
- Navigate to Settings > Compliance > Identity Verification
- Review the "Actions Required" notice, if shown
