How to Use Onespot HQ (Gather)

Welcome to Onespot HQ — our virtual space powered by Gather where you can walk around, chat, and connect with other school admins and the Onespot team in real time.

Step 1: Join Onespot HQ

When you click the link, you’ll see:

“Welcome to Onespot HQ”

What to do:

1. Enter your name in the field (example: Suzanne Onespot)
2. Click Join

Step 2: Check Your Camera & Mic

Before entering (or right after), Gather will ask for:

• Microphone access (required for talking)
• Camera access (optional)

You may see:

• “Your camera is off.”

What to do:

• Turn on your mic so others can hear you
• Camera is optional

Step 3: Move Around

Controls:

• Arrow keys or WASD → Move your character

Step 4: How Audio Works (IMPORTANT)

• You can only hear people near your character
• As you move closer → audio gets louder
• As you move away → audio fades out

Step 5: Chat & Interactions

• Press Enter to open chat
• You can:
  • Message nearby people
  • Send messages to everyone (depending on space settings)

Step 6: Talking to the Onespot Team

• Walk your character near a team member’s desk
• If they are there, you can:
  • Ask questions
  • Get help
  • Chat live

Step 7: Explore the Space

• Follow labels like Theatre Foyer
• Use the map (bottom corner) to navigate your space
• Move freely between areas

🔇 Controls (Bottom Toolbar)

You’ll see these controls at the bottom of your screen:

• Your Profile (Photo) – Shows your avatar and status
• Microphone – Mute/unmute your mic
• Camera – Turn your camera on/off
• Emotes – Send quick reactions (wave, smile, etc.)
• Chat – Open the chat panel
• Leave – Exit Onespot HQ

👻 Customize Your Avatar (Optional)

When you first join Gather, you may appear as a ghost if you skip avatar setup.

How to customize your avatar (before entering)

When you first click Join, Gather usually gives you the option to:

1. Click Customize (or avatar editor if shown)
2. Choose your:
   • Hair
   • Clothing
   • Accessories
3. Click Next / Done to enter the space

How to edit your avatar (inside the space)

If you’re already inside:

1. Click your character/avatar
2. Open Settings or Profile
3. Select Edit Avatar
4. Make changes and save

Click Join, walk in, and start exploring Onespot HQ 🎉
