Onespot/TC Dashboard vs. Transparent Classroom Web Portal
Overview
Families and staff may see Transparent Classroom (TC) information inside the Onespot app but still be asked to log in again when opening certain TC screens. This depends on whether they are using the Transparent Classroom + Onespot dashboard or opening the Transparent Classroom web portal.
This article explains the difference between the two, why a second login may be required, and how to reduce repeated login prompts.
The TC + Onespot Dashboard (Inside the App)
The Transparent Classroom + Onespot dashboard is the TC-connected dashboard that families see inside the Onespot app.
This dashboard pulls in and surfaces Transparent Classroomโrelated information without opening the full TC web portal. It is designed to make day-to-day viewing faster and simpler.
From this dashboard, families can typically:
- See their children and associated classroom access
- View basic Transparent Classroom information made available in the app
- Access classroom-level updates, photos, or links (based on school setup)
- Select which child or profile to view
The Transparent Classroom Web Portal (Embedded Inside Onespot)
When you tap the Transparent Classroom screen inside Onespot, you are opening an embedded version of Transparent Classroomโs web portal.
Important to know:
- This screen is owned and controlled by Transparent Classroom
- It follows Transparent Classroomโs own security and session rules
- It behaves the same way as logging into TC from a browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
Because of this, Transparent Classroom may ask you to log in again, even though you are already signed into your school's app.

Why Parents/Staff May Be Asked to Log In Again
This behavior applies when opening the Transparent Classroom web portal from inside the Onespot app and is controlled entirely by Transparent Classroom.
A TC login prompt may appear if:
- The Transparent Classroom session has expired after inactivity
- TC has not been accessed recently
- The device or browser cleared session data
- Transparent Classroom requires re-authentication for security reasons
Onespot cannot bypass or override Transparent Classroomโs login requirements.
Recommended: How to Reduce Login Friction for Families
For many families, opening the full Transparent Classroom web portal is not always necessary.
If parents are mainly checking day-to-day items, such as:
- Classroom updates
- Photos
- Basic classroom or child information
Much of this may already be accessible directly within the Transparent Classroom + Onespot dashboard, without opening the full TC portal.
Using the dashboard for routine check-ins can:
- Reduce repeated login prompts
- Provide a smoother experience
- Keep families focused on the most commonly used information
๐ก Schools may wish to guide families on when to stay in the dashboard versus when to open the full TC portal.
What to Expect Going Forward
- The Transparent Classroom + Onespot dashboard and the TC web portal are not the same
- Onespot login does not keep a TC web session active
- Seeing a TC login screen after opening the portal is normal
- Once logged in, families can continue using Transparent Classroom as usual
