Payout Schedules For Weekends and Holidays for ACH Payments

๐Ÿฆ What Happens to ACH Payments on Weekends or Holidays

ACH (bank transfer) payments follow the standard U.S. banking schedule, which means they only process on business days. If your schoolโ€™s ACH pull date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the payment will start processing on the next business day.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Example

Letโ€™s say a parentโ€™s ACH payment was scheduled for Saturday, November 1.

Because banks donโ€™t process ACH transfers on weekends, the payment wonโ€™t begin moving through the banking system until Monday, November 3.

From there:

  • ACH transfers typically take 3โ€“5 business days to clear.
  • Once the funds land in your Stripe balance, theyโ€™ll automatically be included in your next payout cycle.
  • If your payout schedule is daily or weekly, Stripe will send the funds to your bank account on the next scheduled payout day.

โœจ In short: If an ACH payment lands on a weekend or holiday, expect to see the funds in your Stripe balance 3โ€“5 business days later, and in your bank account the following business day, depending on your bankโ€™s processing time.

โšก Optional: Instant Payouts

If you prefer to receive funds immediately after they appear in your Stripe balance, you can enable Instant Payouts in Stripe for same-day delivery (for a small additional fee).

๐Ÿ’ก Why This Happens

The Automated Clearing House (ACH) network follows the Federal Reserveโ€™s business calendar.

That means no ACH transfers are processed on weekends or federal holidays, even if your schoolโ€™s system submits the payment request automatically.
