How to Troubleshoot Email Button Not Working in Your School App

This guide helps members resolve issues when the app’s email buttons do not open a new email draft with the pre-filled recipient. These buttons are designed to quickly launch an email in the user’s default mail app, but device settings can sometimes prevent them from working.

Why This Happens❓

The “Email” buttons in the app rely on your device’s default mail application. If no default mail app is set, or if it’s configured incorrectly, clicking the button may not open an email draft. This is most common on mobile devices.

Troubleshooting Steps

For iOS Devices (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open the ⚙️Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap on Mail
  3. Tap Default Mail App

  1. Select the preferred app (e.g., Gmail, Mail)

✅Test the Button

    • Return to your school app.
    • Tap the email button.
    • The email draft should open automatically in your default mail app.

For Android Devices

  1. Go to ⚙️ Settings > Apps
  2. Select Default apps
  3. Choose the Browser app or Opening links
  4. Find 🔎 Gmail or your preferred mail app
  5. Under "Opening links," ensure "Open in this app" is selected

✅Test the Button

    • Return to your school app.
    • Tap the “Email Attendance” (or other email) button.
    • A new draft should open in the chosen mail app with the recipient pre-filled.

💡Additional Tips:

  • 📲Confirm that your mail app is installed.
  • 📬 Ensure you’re signed in to your mail app (e.g., Gmail or Apple Mail) with your active email account.
