Lock your app from unwanted visitors

While anyone can download your Onespot app, access to its content can be restricted to ensure only the right users can view sensitive information. Onespot provides two main ways to lock your app—either by making the entire app private or by restricting access based on account types.

Method 1: Lock the Entire App

Use this option if you want to restrict all app content from public users. When set to Private, everyone must enter a passcode before joining or viewing any part of the app.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to Admin Superpowers (⚡ Lightning Bolt Icon).
  2. Scroll down to Publishing and Privacy.
  3. You’ll see a toggle labeled Private / Public.
    • When set to Public, anyone can access your app from within The Montessori App, including visitors or people interested in your school.
    • Switch it to Private to restrict access.
  4. Set a passcode that users must enter before accessing the app.
  5. Changes save automatically—your app is now private and secure.

Note: This method hides all content from public users. If you still want visitors to see general school information, consider locking specific account types instead (see Method 2).

Method 2: Lock by Account Type (Recommended)

Use this option if you want to keep some content public while restricting access for certain user roles, such as parents or staff. Visitors can still view general information, but selected roles must enter a passcode to unlock private sections.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to Admin Superpowers (⚡ Lightning Bolt Icon).
  2. Select Account Types.
  3. Choose the account type you want to lock (e.g., Parents, Staff).
    • Under Security & Permissions, toggle Security: Private.
    • Enter a passcode that users must provide to join this role.
  4. Changes save automatically—only users with the correct passcode can sign up under that account type.
  • Visitors can join the app without a passcode and see limited content.
  • Restricted users (e.g., staff and parents) must enter a passcode before accessing private sections.

Why Use This Feature?

Restricting access ensures privacy, security, and controlled user access to sensitive school information. Locking by account type provides greater flexibility, allowing schools to create public-facing content for visitors while protecting staff and parent-specific resources. This feature keeps your school’s communication safe and accessible only to the right people. 🚀
